Indian Rhinoceros [Rhinoceros unicornis]
The one-horned Rhinoceros is India’s only rhino species and has bounced back after being perilously close to extinction.
Among Asian terrestrial land mammals, the Indian rhino is second in size only to the elephant.
The best place to see these beautiful giants is Kaziranga National Park in Assam where their numbers are good and thankfully, growing. This is despite the immense poaching pressure that Kaziranga faces.
