World’s largest bovine, the gaur, is one among India’s tribe of large megafauna. Gaurs are a common and magnificent sight in the Indian jungles preferring mountainous forested regions and swathes of grassy pastures to forage upon. A single gaur can weigh more than a tonne, are strictly herbivorous and are mostly seen foraging in herds.
